Funerals & End of Life Ceremonies
As humans, all of us experience loss and deep grief upon the death of a loved one, family member or primary relationship. Often the loss is sudden or tragic and our American culture may expect us to “return to normal” too quickly. However, such losses, deserve to be honored through a careful well-orchestrated tribute to the one who has passed. Authenticity through respectful sharings, readings, music and prayers can help ease the pain of grief. Such events memorialize and give credence to a life well-lived – reflecting the departed one’s personal values and beliefs. I will work with you to uncover poignant stories and memories that will allow us to work together to create an honorable, respectful tribute to your loved one. The memories of such an event will seep through the memories of those present and help keep alive the Light of the Life now physically lost.
Loss, such as a still-born infant or young child who has carried a fatal illness or suffered a tragic accident indeed deserve a “cloud of witnesses” who can help the immediate family move through the loss in a respectful and gentle manner. In such a situation, I can work with the family and close friends to create a ceremony that meets their needs, their faith base and their hopes for the child in the beyond, and those that are left gathered here.
Also offered is the opportunity to “Coach” a person who is willing to speak at the ceremony. Help in crafting words of an appropriate length, content and truth are often helpful for someone looking to make their “moment” a reflection of their love and devotion.
I respect and encourage the inclusion of all faith and ethnic practices that would enhance and embellish, in as meaningful a way, a powerful, memory making Celebration of Life ceremony.
